Do tapeworms come out alive or dead and how do you know if you have one? (human)?

just curious. Ive read so many different things.I only want an answer from someone who knows. no guessing. Ive been tested one time about 2 months ago for parasites and came back negative. I have been having severe abdominal cramping for months so Im a little worried it could be worms. Have not seen anything in stool. I read it is very uncommon for a tapeworm to hang out of butt unless you kill it with meds.is this true? Im literally afraid to go to the bathroom now. I am having a colonoscopy for my cramping but its not for a few more months. I just hope that the fecal test wasnt wrong and I would have hoped if i had something by now i would have seen something in the toilet. I also do have 2 dogs and 4 cats. Cats are indoors only.
