ANYONE with ANY experience with colon issues, read please?

I'm just wondering how long it takes a colon polyp to develope? My mother has Ulcerative Colitis and has to go for a colonoscopy (been about 4 years) so what are the chances anything has come about since then? and if it has, it wouldnt be anything serious yet would it?
