Has anyone experienced chronic diarrhea and colitis for a year after a colonoscopy?

A family member of mine had a colonoscopy over a year ago and his colon was punctured which led to infections. However, a year later he is still going to the bathroom around 20 times a day...losing sleep..feeling tired etc. He has had numerous tests, blood work, antibiotics, and nothing seems to work.
