Why did they patch the akimbo models in mw2?

where they really that bad. i have seen videos of pre patch models and yes they have more range than the other shotguns but they still couldnt hit from the ladder to the cock pit in the plane on terminal. now they are useless weapons. you have to be within commando stabbing distance for their hits to register. and meanwhile every game i get killed by quick scopers using the intervention like a shotgun, isnt infinity ward kinda hypocritical. what was the main reason they patched them??? people complaining??? or did infinity ward do it from their own opinion?
