18 years old and having a colonoscopy!?

I went to a GI(gerontologist) and he suspects I may have an Inflammatory Bowel Disease and so im getting a colonoscopy tomorrow. i am very scared i just need some reasurrace that im doing the right thing and that everything will be okay. i am 18 so do I have less of a risk of complications than like a 50 year old. i dont want to be sedated so will it be painful or awkward?
