Im wondering if this sounds like colon cancer...?

Both my father and his mother had colon cancer. I had a colonoscopy in 2009 and had two benign polyps removed. No cancer. Well, for the past maybe month or longer, I have severe bleeding when I have a bowel movement. Each time I go, there is a large amount of blood, from bright red to dark almost black and contains clots. I really don't think I've had any abdominal pain that I've noticed. But I do go more frequently. I'm making an appointment to the gastro doc today but wondered what y'all thought. Btw, I am 37 year old male.
